Soon Valley

·     The word "soon" in Sanskrit is 'sohan' meaning beautiful. Over time, the pronunciation of "Sohan" changed to "Soon". Thus, this "Sohn Dharti" came to be known as "Soon Valley" . "Soon" In Sanskrit it is called gold.

Natural beauty
·     "Soon Valley" is an ancient and beautiful valley of Khushab district in the northwest of Punjab province of Pakistan, rich in bounties and blessings of nature. This valley lies in the unconformable hills which are famous all over the world for their natural beauty. Nature has blessed the Soon Valley with all kinds of landscapes geographically. This valley consists of natural lakes, ponds, waterfalls, lush green crops, tall and green mountains, dense forests, wildlife sanctuaries, archaeology, ancient historical wars and their ancient history. Wadi-e-Soon is not just the name of a beautiful valley but it is the name of the land of nobles, valor of warriors, folk tales, beautiful springs and flowing waterfalls. This valley is a unique host of migratory birds in winter. The arrival of birds makes the beauty of the valley eternal.

·       Soon Valley is the name of a mountain range that has many small valleys and small villages. The length of Soon valley is 35 miles 56 kilometers and the width is 14 kilometers. Soon Valley starts from the lush and beautiful village of Paddar and ends at Sakesar, the highest peak in the Salt range Mountains. Sakesar Mountains are the only mountains in this region of Punjab which receives snow in winter. The temperature here is pleasant in summer and very cold in winter.
 
·       Wadi-e-Soon salt range and Pothohar are located in an alignment. This area has also been the center of ancient civilizations. Since BC, major battles have been fought over the beauty and other resources of the area. There were also many fights between Tatars and Muslims.
 
·       Soon valley is also mentioned in Tuzuk-e-Babri. Great Muslim conqueror Zahiruddin Babur's grandson passed through Tohar area and passed through Soon valley on his way. whose natural beauty attracted King Salamat. Encamped there with his army.
 
·       The natural beauty of this valley was there, Babar also contributed to increase the beauty of this valley. He issued orders to grow gardens and gave historical speeches about the valley. This is still a source of pride for the people of this area.

Zahiruddin Babar said that

ایں وادی بچہ کشمیر است


That is, this valley is Chota Kashmir.

·       Soon Valley has the distinction of being home to poets, writers and journalists including Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi and Wasif Ali Wasif.

·       It may not be possible to say anything with certainty about Wadi-e-Soon, but its age can be estimated from the traces found in the valley. Coins, idols and many household necessities have been found in many places of the valley. In the opinion of the researchers. The age of Pothohar and Wadi Soon is similar.
